Dr. Fayez El-Gabalawi
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. El-Gabalawi (Dr. El) serves as the Chief Medical Officer. He joined Belmont for about thirty years and served in different clinical and administrative capacities as staff psychiatrist, president of medical staff, and medical director of child/adolescent division. He held a medical degree from Cairo University, completed psychiatry residency at Temple University, child/adolescent fellowship at Columbia University, and board certifications in both adult and child psychiatry. In addition to extensive teaching, mentoring, and supervising medical students, residents and fellows, he has also conducted research, published several articles and book chapters, and awarded several academic and community service awards. He holds a faculty position at Jefferson University as clinical associate professor of psychiatry, and functions as the associate director of the child/adolescent fellowship. He advocated strongly for children mental health during his term as a president of the regional council of child and adolescent psychiatry of Eastern Pa. and South NJ. As the CMO he is continuously working with the medial staff to recruit excellent candidates, and to ensure a high level of safety and quality of patient care that Belmont is always striving to achieve.
